Have some Conservatives lost their "Family Values" by lying about Death Squads and stoking fear into voters?

Is this behavior what one would consider to be worthy of a party that claims to be all about "family values". Do you think that it is morally wrong to lie? Do you think it is OK to cause fear in others for the sake of political gain through using made up fictional and non existent stories. Recently this has happened and some Conservatives are guilty of misrepresenting and others of plain out right lies. How does this equate to Family values?
