Why is meiosis important in ual reproduction?

Meiosis creates haploid cells. Haploid cells are eggs or sperm, and the combining of an egg and sperm in a process called fertilization produce another organism of the same type ( in this cause another human being). If meiosis did not create cells with half the amount of chromosome pair in an organism the next generation will not be identical in terms of same species as the organism that made and had it.
