I am replacing a ceiling fan with a light i have 4 wires coming out where the ceiling fan was one wire is cont?

ceiling fan was it is controlled by a switch the wires also control light with a switch when i tryed wiring all black together and all white together it tripped the circuit please give me some istance on how to wire the light thanks in advance
