Spelling Bee Question?
In some regional and school spelling bees, they will tell you if they want you to specify capital letters, but they will never ask for accents. They probably wouldn't even know the names of them (for reference, a common French accent above a letter that looks like this / is pronounced "Accent Ay-goo," but you shouldn't need to know that). When I went to the Scripps National Spelling Bee last year, we were not required to indicate accents or capital letters, so you can anticipate not having to know them, but sometimes regional and school spelling bee judges don't know the rules well enough, so they make their own rules.
