What age is good for a kids first scary movie?

My daughter is 6 and wants to watch her first scary movie (I personally think we should wait till next year 7 at least if not 8) At what age did you let your child watch them and what would be a good first scary movie something not too gory? I don't really watch them so I am not too sure!!
